PDR Technicians; Do You Have Basic Retail Sales Experience? We Do! Part III

Table of Contents

One of the biggest mistakes that PDR Technicians make is to appear overly confident or, God forbid, arrogant. While it’s true that you are in an industry that is relatively new and growing, don’t assume that your client knows absolutely nothing about it. You are not there to teach them or show them all of the things that you can do. As sure as your mouth is opening and closing, you will lose this client. Whether your potential client is a man or woman, they will see through your bravado attitude.

You could even consider practicing how you speak to people in front of the mirror, parents, friends, girlfriends or wife. Get some honest feedback before you attempt your sales pitch with a client.  Hopefully, you know that there is a very fine line between confidence and arrogance.  Write out your pitch and practice it often. You won’t actually be using these exact words because you also don’t want to sound automated. Just get the basics down so that you understand what you are trying to say, then get out of your  own way and allow the words to start to flow.

You will be surprised at how fast you pick it up. When it comes to selling, the most important thing that you can do is to fully understand your product. If you took the Total Recon package in school, then you will have quite a few products to really get the feel for. The words will come to you naturally in time and they won’t sound condescending at all. As long as you are aware of what and how you are saying it. You don’t want to be a Sheldon Cooper.
