Interior Repair: Making Easy Money

Many times, when a person is trying to sell their vehicle, they will tend to leave the interior just as it is because it would cost too much to make any real changes or corrections. It’s going to be your responsibility to up-sell your services. So perhaps they have contacted you because you have successfully distributed your business cards and flyers. When you go out to give the customer an estimate, take a look at the inside and come up with a figure that will seem reasonable for the seller. Remember to let them know that working from the inside out will increase the sell value of their car.

So how much can you make if this course is included in your schooling package or you ordered it as an addition? Really, you can charge whatever you want, but the industry norm is this: Retail (which is how much you would charge a client you go to) $85. Now, if you are working with Used Car Dealership then you will want to charge a wholesale price of $45. So essentially you can charge either anywhere in between the two amounts. What will it cost you in material? a mere $3, yes that’s right, Three Dollars! The average time that it should take to perform the services is only 30 minutes. You do the math. The only thing not considered is how much it is costing you to get to the client or dealership site.

Most likely, most of your time will be spent speaking with the client or dealership management. You will want to focus on limiting these conversations as they are cutting into your profit. There is a balance and we will cover that another time.

So, let’s say that you have a client who has you there for dent removal, if they are selling the car and the interior needs some reconditioning, you could offer the reconditioning for your wholesale price instead of retail, or somewhere in between.
